Main Event: Back Bracing.

Back bracing for the J45 project guitar

Prior to the meeting, Tom glued on the back bracing.

There are many ways to handle the back bracing procedure. Tom likes to glue on the bracing square and tall, and then do the shaping. Others will do some shaping prior to gluing.

We started by bringing the braces down to the final height of 5/8" and then shaping them. Since we had a small crew, everyone go a chance to do some work.

After a lot of discussion about how to make the back more resonant (flexibility, surface waves...), we decided not to pocket the brace ends into the linings. Instead, we'll feather the brace end ramps to where they meet the linings. Everything is an experiment.
